Why is the Division Moving?

The move to UH at Sugar Land is part of President Khator’s vision to extend the reach of the University beyond its current location to a region where industry and commerce is expanding at a rapid rate and needs of the Technology Division at the Cullen College of Engineering unique programs to support economic development.

Is UH at Sugar Land a different University than UH?

No, UH at Sugar Land is an instructional site of the University. UH at Sugar Land is an extension of the main campus. The only change is the geographical location – everything else remains the same.

What undergraduate programs are currently offered at both the Main Campus and UH at Sugar Land?

Human Resource DevelopmentRetailing and Consumer ScienceConstruction Management, and Mechanical Engineering Technology are the courses currently offered both at UH Main and UH at Sugar Land. Computer Information Systems (CIS) will transition to UH at Sugar Land in Fall 2022.

What undergraduate programs are solely offered at UH at Sugar Land buildings?

What graduate programs will be offered at both of the UH Sugar Land and the UH Main campuses?

The Executive Human Resource Development program is offered at UH Sugar Land.

Will courses offered at the Sugar Land buildings have live stream capabilities in case I am unable to attend courses at the Sugar Land?

Yes, livestream capabilities will be available for courses offered in specific classrooms, even if the course is listed as a face-to-face or hybrid course.

How will I know if the Technology Division at the Cullen College of Engineering course for which I registered has live streaming capabilities from Sugar Land?

This information will be displayed prominently in the course syllabus for each class.

Are shuttle services offered between Main Campus and Sugar Land?

Yes, the free shuttles run daily and are equipped with wifi capabilities. They pick up from the UH Student Center and drop off at the UH at Sugar Land George Building. Download the UH GO app to track the shuttle in real time at https://uh.edu/go/

Do I need to pay for parking at UH Sugar Land?

All faculty, staff and students pay to park at any UH locations. The current permit price is $295 and can be purchased through AccessUH. If a student, faculty and/or staff member has a Main Campus tag they can use it at Sugar Land at no additional cost. The Sugar Land tag works only in parking zone E at Main Campus and Monday – Thursday after 3 pm and Friday –Sunday at any ungated lot. What kinds of student resources will be available in the Sugar Land buildings?

Academic advising, career services, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), enrollment services, Student AffairsUniversity Branch Library, and IT services all will be available in Sugar Land.

What else is at Sugar Land?

In addition to the Technology Division at the Cullen College of Engineering, the UH College of Nursing and Wharton Community College reside at the Sugar Land Instructional Site. Each has its own classrooms, labs, multipurpose rooms and student lounge/study areas. The Technology Division at the Cullen College of Engineering soon will have a second building on the campus.

Is UH Housing offered at Sugar Land?

No, UH housing is only available on the Main campus.

UH at Sugar Land offers several dining and vending options to meet the needs of our campus community Dining & Vending Services - University of Houston (uh.edu). There are additional amenities in close proximity offered within the surrounding community.
