Technology Division Scholarships

The scholarship applications may be filed starting March 2025. All scholarships are for Technology Division declared majors. Scholarship amounts are subject to change. Additional awards may be added later.

Recommendations for awards are typically given by July 15th, before the priority deadline required by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. If a scholarship is awarded, it will be posted to the student’s myUH account and can be reviewed by looking under the Student Financials section.

For scholarships requiring employment verification, submit the Scholarship Employment Verification Form.

 

Online Scholarship Applications

These endowed scholarships are established in honor of Dr. Sophie Lin Rydin and to promote the values of Dr. Rydin and of HCSS, which she was instrumental in building. To successfully complete the application, applicants need to review the provided material about Dr. Rydin at SophieRydin.com.

How to Apply: Opens March 2025.

Scholarship Criteria:

  1. Enroll full-time as undergraduate in the Technology Division.
  2. Major in one of the following: 1) Computer Information Systems, 2) Construction Management, 3) Digital Media and 4) Technology Leadership and Innovation Management
  3. Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  4. Working a minimum of 15 hours per week. Access the Employer Verification form here .
  5. Financial need may be considered.
  6. Submit a 500-word essay describing one or more of your accomplishments or actions that Sophie Rydin would be proud of and why.

Additional Information: The scholarship(s) is renewable provided the student(s) continues to meet the criteria and submits an updated essay, which should include accomplishments Dr. Sophie Rydin would be proud of over the previous year. A recipient may only receive the scholarship for a total of four (4) years.

This scholarship is available to prospective incoming new full-time undergraduate students who are transferring with a minimum of 30 credit hours from a designated Lone Star College (LSC) campus to the Technology Division and majoring in STEM degrees. A preference will be given to biotechnology or computer information system majors. Eligible students must be in good academic standing and must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA from LSC.

This scholarship is available to prospective incoming new full-time undergraduate students in the Technology Division who are majoring in Retailing and Consumer Science.

The information below provides you with a comprehensive list of scholarships being offered in the Technology Division for both undergraduate (UGRD) and graduate (GRAD) students based on program and/or major. Criteria listed here will be adhered to by the Technology Division Scholarship Committee when making selections.

Note: Students will only be allowed to complete one (1) application as it is sufficient to be considered for all Collective Scholarship Opportunities. It is recommended to complete this application on the computer and not a phone or tablet to avoid mistakes.

Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation

Applications are now being accepted for the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation graphic communication scholarships.

The British American Foundation of Texas (BAFTX) Scholarships

Undergraduate Award: Tuition-only scholarships awarded for the Fall semester. This scholarship is for students who reside in Texas and are applying for funding to study in Texas. See link for additional applicant criteria.

Graduate Award: This is an opportunity for students to study at the graduate level, whether Texas residents in Texas, Texas residents in the UK or UK residents in Texas. Scholarships will be applied toward tuition costs only and paid directly to the chosen education establishment. See link for additional applicant criteria.

Cuadra Family STEM Scholarship

The Cuadra Family STEM Scholarship Foundation intends to fund students from families of educators seeking a STEM degree at a Texas college or university. Each year, two students are selected to receive a four-year scholarship. The scholarship will provide a total of $12,000, paid out per semester in $1,500 installments. After two semesters of classes at UH, Technology Division at the Cullen College students may apply for college-specific scholarships from the Dean’s Office. These scholarships are competitive and generally require a cumulative GPA and minimum enrollment requirements. In addition, several endowments support scholarship awards for currently enrolled Technology Division at the Cullen College students annually.
