In 1972, he began working his way thru college in a mailing company in Austin, Texas. He obtained an undergraduate BBA (Marketing) degree in 1975 and an MBA in 1977. He originally came to Houston in July 1977, after graduation from the MBA program of the University of Texas at Austin, to work for National Mail Advertising as a Salesman. A year and a half later in December 1978, he joined Greater Houston Mailing Services as Executive Vice President. In addition to working in the industry, since 1978, he has conducted seminars on Direct Marketing for Leisure Learning and taught for the MBA program of the Business School of the University of Houston.
In early 1981, after Harte Hanks bought Greater Houston Mailing Services, he left to form Mailplex List Services, creating the "Texas Resident List", for sales of labels to mailers around the country. Later in 1981, he founded International Mailing Systems, Inc., which he ran as President until 2008.
When the dynamics of our economy began to show signs of change in 2006, he began to work on transforming his company into a more diversified Direct Marketing Services Provider. In 2007, he took the first step in his plan and persuaded the one of the co-owners of Service Inc., Geno Baiamonte ( the Commercial Offset Reproduction/Print Services division), to rent part of one of his buildings. After more than a year of discussions, in late 2008, he bought The Premier Company, the oldest Mailing and Fulfillment service company in Houston owned by Martha Justice, and renamed the company PremierIMS, Inc. In 2010, he formally merged in Service, Inc., which included their regular and wide format Digital Services, to complete what he had started with the commercial printing division back in 2007, and named Geno Baiamonte as the President of PremierIMS, Inc.
As the economy continued to slow after 2010, consolidation became his new focus. In August 2012, he convinced Ron Garrow, the owner of National Mail Advertising, Inc., to join him and all the assets were purchased by PremierIMS, Inc. and all the key people, including Ron Garrow (who became the Operations Director) were hired, and the 40,000 sq. ft. facility at the 2299 White Street location was maintained to produce the larger mailing projects the sales team generated. The momentum to gather the Advertising and Marketers of Direct Marketing programs together appealed to many companies in Houston. To encourage that, he named the White Street location "Mailplex Houston" and soon began leasing the open offices to Ad Agencies who had Direct Marketing divisions to facilitate their operations to be in closer contact with the manufacturing of their programs. The location also became the main offices of the American Advertising Federation/Houston.
In late 2013, he brought all 3 operations together and were consolidated into one facility closer to the North Houston Postal Mail Processing Facility near Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The full Direct Marketing Provider Service operation has 130 employees and operates in a 80,000 square feet building which includes the Mailing and Printing production plant, storage and offices.
He currently serves on the Board of American Advertising Federation/Houston as Treasurer, on the Board of the Printing Industries of the Gulf Coast as Secretary, is the Chairman of the Board of the East Downtown Houston Management District, serves on the Board of the course curriculum of the 4 year degree program "Digital Media", in the School of Technology of the University of Houston Main Campus and teaches the DIGM 3350 course on Printing, to seniors in the University of Houston's School of Technology.
