About the Program
The Construction Management Master's degree program provides the knowledge and skills essential for successful leadership positions in the construction industry. The curriculum focuses on both fundamental knowledge and advanced topics. Fundamental courses include estimating, scheduling, contracting, and project management and advanced courses include risk analysis, decision making, computer applications in construction, sustainability and green construction, quality management, and Six-Sigma. Our graduates are prepared to work in the construction industry and in academia.
Often referred to as the jobs of the future, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) jobs are among some of the highest paying and in-demand jobs today. The MS in Construction Management program is STEM designated. While this not only recognizes the rigor of this program, it also provides an added benefit for international students with extended optional practical training (OPT) with additional 24 months.
University of Houston Construction Management (CM) master program ranks in Top 50 Construction programs in the United States and the third best construction program in Texas. The CM master program is STEM designated and focuses on both fundamental knowledge and cutting-edge technologies. Fundamental courses include estimating, scheduling, contracting, and project management and advanced courses include AI, VR/AR, BIM, and big data. It is a 30-hour, two-year program that offers both online and in-person classes. The CM master program provides the knowledge and skills essential for successful management positions in the construction industry. Program Options

- For U.S. citizens and permanent residents, we offer a truly self-paced online program.
- For international students, we offer a face-to-face program.
- Students NOT residing in the USA:
- For students who will not reside in the U.S. during their course of study, we offer an overseas program which is a fully online program.
Degree Plan
The Construction Management Master's degree requires 31 semester hours. Prior to progressing to advanced skills courses, all applicants are required to take the fundamental courses (Estimating, Scheduling, and Contract Administration). Career-change students must consult with the CM Graduate Program Coordinator to develop a customized study plan. The program is designed for both working professionals and full-time students.

Admission Requirements
Preferred backgrounds include construction management, engineering, architecture, design, urban planning, business management, and real estate. Applicants who completed their undergraduate degrees in a non-English speaking country must take one of the following tests: TOEFL, IELTS, and Duolingo. A TOFEL score of 550 is required (equivalent to 213 computerized test, or 79 on the iBT). The TOEFL score may not be more than 2 years old. The minimum IELTS score required is an overall band score of 6.5. The required minimum for the Duolingo exam is 105. For more information, visit Graduate Catalog Online.

- 1 Official Transcript reflecting your Bachelor's Degree (Must arrive in a sealed envelope from your college or university.)
- 1 Official Transcript of any coursework since your Bachelor's degree (Must arrive in a sealed envelope from your college or university.)
- Official TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo test score report (if applicable)
- A letter of intent describing the candidate’s inspirations and benefits from the degree

Deadlines
For domestic applicants, fall semester deadline is July 1 and spring semester deadline is December 1.
For international applicants, fall semester deadline is April 1 and spring deadline is October 1. The following documents are required for the issuance of a student visa:
