What drew you to the program?
I entered this program without knowing anything about it! When I was transferring to UH and looking at majors, I chose Retailing & Consumer Science because I had experience in retail and it sounded the most interesting to me.

How has the program helped you achieve your academic or career goals?
The Retailing & Consumer Science program has connected me to a plethora of scholarship, career, and involvement opportunities. I had the pleasure of officially establishing and becoming President and Student Ambassador of the UH Chapter of the National Retail Federation Student Association (NRFSA), the first retail-centered student organization at UH. Through this organization, students including myself have connected with retail companies that offer students internships and careers in the retail field. I have also become an undergraduate researcher with the ResearchYOU! research lab which has been very interesting as I have researched topics, such as sociability in the Metaverse, and issues in the retail industry and sharpened my research skills. Additionally, I have thoroughly enjoyed the coursework associated with the RCS program. It has expanded my knowledge on every aspect of the retail industry, and even enlightened me on what career I wanted to pursue in retail. I think that because the program covers many angles of retail, it has equipped me with the skills and knowledge needed to be successful.

What aspects of the program (e.g., courses, instructors, support, etc.) have you found most valuable?
Although the coursework is very useful and invigorating, the faculty have made my experience in the Retailing & Consumer Science program the most valuable. Every faculty member has been so supportive and understanding, making my time as an RCS student all the more enjoyable.

What advice would you give to someone considering joining the program?
Some advice I would give students considering joining the Retailing & Consumer Science Program is to put yourself out there. Talk to your peers, your professors, and get involved! I have had a blast getting involved in the program, and it has connected me to so many amazing people, and even led me to meeting some of my best friends!
