DNA forensics is now revolutionizing many aspects of criminal investigation, including DNA fingerprinting, DNA foot-printing, DNA pro­filing, etc. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis of DNA samples allows precise iden­tifications to be made from very tiny bits of evidence collected at the crime scene.

This area of forensics includes careers that examine and extract evidence from a victim's body. This includes the coroner, medical examiner, forensic pathologists, and autopsy technicians. The evidence they collect from the body of the victim is sent to be tested by forensic scientists.
