Digital Media Program

The University of Houston Digital Media program in the College of Technology prepares graduates with high-level competencies across a range of print and digital media technologies.  With the accelerating adoption of new communication platforms, students need to possess a thorough knowledge of transmedia marketing skills to help employers optimize their business communication investments.

A valuable software donation by XMPie, a Xerox Company, provides students the technology to integrate print, packaging, digital media, and video to create personalized, transmedia business communications. Access to the XMPie software suite allows digital media students to develop and refine their One-to-One marketing education.

Transmedia Marketing®, a registered trademark of the UH Digital Media Program, references the integration of multiple communication platforms to allow the right message, to the right person, at the right time, via the right platform.

Jacob Aizikowitz, the recently retired founder and president of XMPie, enabled the donation in recognition of the Digital Media Program’s reinvention of graphic arts education to attract digital-native students. XMPie’s general manager, Eran Baron, said, “We fully support the University of Houston Digital Media Program because it attracts and educates millennials as leaders in planning and integrating the optimal mix of media platforms to meet a messaging campaign's strategic objectives. XMPie recognizes the value these new transmedia professionals will bring to our clients and the industries we serve around the world.”

“XMPie’s generosity allows our graduates to develop industry-leading, one-to-one messaging programs for seamless integration across multiple media performs, including print, video, packaging, gaming, social media, and photography. These skills meet the University of Houston’s primary objective – graduating career-ready professionals,” said Jerry Waite, professor and program coordinator of the UH Digital Media Program.

The donation was facilitated by Julie and Andy Plata, whose company, OutputLinks Communications Group, promotes and supports the global print-based transmedia industry.
