Executive Masters in HRD Launches Podcast to Celebrate 10-Year Anniversary

The Executive Masters in Human Resource Development (HRD) is celebrating its 10-year anniversary by launching a new podcast series. The series takes a closer look into what makes this master’s program truly unique and discusses some of the expected and unexpected outcomes of the curriculum. The Executive Masters in HRD is an accelerated 11-month, experiential program offered by the University of Houston at Sugar Land. The podcast is set to kick off the first week of May and continue through the end of June.

In each 30-45 minute podcast, students, alumni, faculty, and advisory board members offer insights on what makes the Executive Masters in HRD special. They examine relevant topics such the purpose of executive education, the impact executive education has on a person and organization, the design of executive education, the necessity of vulnerability in executive education, and much more.

The Executive Masters in HRD is different from the professional program in that it is geared to develop change leaders by using the individuals, their experiences, and work as core units of analysis. Subsequently, students are in a continuous mode of application and reflection.

Associate Professor and Program Director of the Executive Masters in HRD, Consuelo Waight, Ph.D., discussed the focus of the program and who the program serves.

““Our students represent all functions in the organization. For example, while most come from HR, engineers have completed the program because they seek change leadership skills to effectively champion and motivate their teams,” said Waight. “We also have had non-HR professionals join us because they lead change projects in their respective departments.” She added that the podcasts reflect student diversity and their impact across organization functions.”

The Executive Masters in HRD program has an easy online application, no Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), individualized career coaching, fall and spring enrollment, taught in hybrid format, and the program cost includes tuition, fees, class materials, and the international trip component.
