Congratulations to University of Houston (UH) Master of Science in Foresight students Heather Benoit Kampa and JT Mudge for receiving 1st place awards in the 2021 Association of Professional Futurists (APF) Student Recognition Program.
The APF developed the competition to recognize outstanding work done by students in futures studies and the institutions that develop those students. Submissions in the individual categories must consist of papers or projects and team submissions must be formal papers, projects, and products.
The student work submitted by the UH Foresight program was in the Masters Individual category. JT’s topic was on “The Future of Sustainability on Pacific Pelagic Fisheries” and Heather’s was “The Future of Truth.”
“I really love how such totally different topics – the future of sustainable fisheries and the future of truth -- were recognized as so equally compelling that the judges couldn’t pick a single winner,” says Andy Hines, associate professor and coordinator of the Foresight graduate program at UH. “And I am so pleased to see the hard work of Heather and JT recognized by colleagues at the professional association.”
The competition judging is handled by a committee consisting of four to ten APF members from across different global regions using criteria including quality of content, originality, appearance/presentation, and contribution to the field of foresight and futures studies.
