Digital media lecturer Patrice Charleville is on her way to living out her retirement dream in Yucatan, Mexico, starting this summer. Charleville began her career at the University of Houston printing plant in the early 1990s. Jerry Waite, professor of digital media and coordinator of the program met Charleville when he started the graphic communications technology curriculum in 1993 and invited her to teach at UH.

Charleville has taught photography, printing, and various graphic design classes. “She nurtured many interns and the first graduates from our graphic communications technology program,” said Waite.

“It has been a delight to be on the forefront of the program’s transformation, with innovative courses from e-commerce to transmedia. I am excited to try some new things and I also intend to keep up with the students who have invested so much in their education,” said Charleville.  “It has been amazing to see the rapid growth of the digital media program and how it has taken off.  Students struggled with the situation we were forced into with the COVID-19 pandemic; but, they remained strong – not giving up. Our students demonstrated incredible talent and resilience; and, it was evident in their final projects,” she said.
