The University of Houston has recognized associate dean for academic affairs and professor on engineering technology, Dr. Heidar Malki for his leadership of internationally related activities. The Global Faculty award is given to tenured or tenure-track faculty who have demonstrated excellence in the promotion of globalization of teaching, research, and/or service.

Devoted to opening up new opportunities to prepare STEM students for the global workplace, his most recent contribution is the development of a study abroad program with Paris-Sud University, which began in fall 2017. Malki was selected for the Fulbright International Education Administrator Seminar award to France in 2016.
