Dr. Jamison V. Kovach, Associate Professor at the University of Houston's College of Technology, has been selected to receive a travel award for the Gender Summit 8 North & Latin America in Mexico City, April 28-29, 2016. The Gender Summit brings together gender equality practitioners, policy makers and scientists from around the world to further advance gender equality in science practices and to bring about an understanding of gender issues to advance innovation and research.
The travel award is funded by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) through support from the National Science Foundation (NSF), which provides travel awards to U.S. female faculty researchers in science, technology, and math (STEM) disciplines to attend gender summits.
Kovach and three other AAAS delegates will travel to Mexico City to meet international researchers and visit academic institutions. Kovach learned about the opportunity though her work with the UH Center for ADVANCING UH Faculty Success.
