Construction management student, Salomon De Lima placed among the top 20 finalists for the Construction Intern Awards presented by HCSS. This scholarship program recognizes the strongest construction interns in the industry and companies with the best construction internship programs across the country.
Salomon was the only one nominated from the University of Houston. His internship at Triad Construction during the summer, provided a wealth of experience that complements his studies in the classroom.
"By competing with people from major companies and universities all over the country, it makes me very proud to be a part of the construction management program at UH", Salomon said.
Salomon credits his dad as a major influence on his decision to pursue a construction career. His dad has worked in the construction industry for more than 25 years in Colombia and in the United States. "Since I was a kid I have been exposed to construction sites. I decided to major in construction management after discovering the great the program at the University of Houston and learning that it is well-recognized nationwide and continues to grow," he said.
Salomon expects to graduate in spring 2017 and aspires to become a project manager for Triad Retail Construction, where he is an intern. "I hope to be president of a construction company anywhere in the world, or even own my own business one day".
