Digital Media Students Share Insights from GRAPH EXPO 15

Two University of Houston digital media students were selected to experience one of the most comprehensive displays of innovation in the graphic communications industry. The GRAPH EXPO 15 conference was held September 13-16, at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. The GRAPH EXPO proved to be transformative for Melody Hutchison and Jessica Murray. Both College of Technology seniors expressed their amazement about the breadth and depth of the industry and appreciation for the opportunity to attend.

When she got there, Melody Hutchison quickly realized there it was virtually impossible to see everything in the 72 hours. "It was definitely an eye opening experience and kind of like Disney Land," she reflected. "Going forward I have been encouraged to learn as much as I can about the print industry and keep up to date."

"I knew it would be an amazing learning experience and a chance to network with many large companies," said Jessica Murray whose future plans are to pursue a career in offset printing. Opportunities for networking with industry professionals are very meaningful to students and complement their learning experience. "I visited as many booths as possible and spoke to executives and sales associates to gather as much information as I could about their products, software, and future technology," said Murray. "I gained a lot of connections that can help me along the way".
