UH Technology Alumnus Presents Insider Tips at DEF CON 23 Conference: Are we really safe?

Used to protect everything from residential communities to commercial offices, access control systems are ubiquitous and people depend on them to make sure that secured areas are only accessible to authorized users. In his talk, "Are we really safe? Bypassing Access Control Systems", at DEF CON 23 in Las Vegas, August 6-9, UH College of Technology computer information systems alum Dennis Maldonado, demonstrated how and where access control systems are used, exposing the tips, tricks and attack methods used in bypassing common access control systems-from physical attacks, and RFID, to wireless, telephony, and network. Maldonado is a security consultant for KLC Consulting.
