New Offshore Learning Center Promotes Professional Career Growth

The highly respected offshore technology, and oil and gas exploration and production operations publication, Offshore Magazine, has partnered with the University of Houston Petroleum Technology Initiative (PTI) to offer a wealth of comprehensive education and training. The collection is a repository of research, publications, videos, poster presentations, and many other useful resources.

The Offshore Learning Center focuses on the offshore oil and gas industry technical topics, such as offshore deepwater projects, subsea processing and production systems, heavy marine transport vessels, and more.

Launched in May 2015, this free collection of online resources was designed to enhance global knowledge transfer and self-learning. The site has attracted more than 25,000 viewers from 50 countries, and the number of users is growing every day. Direct links from the site bring viewers directly to the University of Houston, College of Technology, UH Energy, and other graduate and undergraduate programs.

"In our increasingly fast-paced, competitive global market, it is essential that faculty, students, and industry experts have the ability to gain easy access to information within seconds", said Galina Sheridan, deputy director of the PTI. "Response from industry professionals has been positive, with increasing requests for updates, new video-collections, and training courses. The information can be used to create powerful presentations and empower technical discussions in the classroom or for corporate training."
