The University of Houston College of Technology welcomed 160 students, faculty, and alumni and 19 industry partners to the fall 2014 Petroleum Industry Expert event. Graciously underwritten by Halliburton, the increasingly popular industry roundtable and networking dinner was held at the Hilton – University of Houston, October 29.
Featured speaker, Christopher Barton, global offshore business development senior vice president of Wood Group Mustang, presented an in-depth view of the petroleum industry, highlighting remarkable innovative engineering technologies that influence the success of deep and ultra-deep water projects. His interactive discussion with students extended their understanding of concepts and tools and the logic behind deep-water exploration and development.
The networking session table hosts included Halliburton, Repsol, Marathon Oil, Wood Group MCS Kenny, 2H Offshore, Dril-Quip Inc., Premium Valves, FMC Technologies, PEMEX, Deloitte, Quest Offshore, and Stigant Enterprises Inc. Company representatives facilitated discussions ranging from project management and subsea equipment, to reservoir characterization, health, safety and security challenges, and social responsibility.
Since 2008, Halliburton has supported the college through highly valued events such as the lecture series, Camp RED, and through scholarships to students taking courses in the Petroleum Technology Initiative program, led by Jack Christiansen and Galina Sheridan.
