Two College of Technology teams earned awards for their participation in the 2014 Cornell USA – a yearlong academic embedded design competition presented by Intel. As finalists, both teams attend the third annual competition at the Walt Disney World Result in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, May 2 - 3.

The Synergetech team used the power of Facebook, Twitter, blogs and other social media to get out the word about their sports innovation, a system that has implications for athletes from the schoolyard to the Olympics. The team has focused on basketball shooting analysis to improve the free throw success rate that earned them a spot in the competition finals. They placed among the top 5 on the Cornell Cup blog survey, and won a Cornell Cup Media Award, which came with a $1,000 prize. The team’s tech blog ranked fourth in the first round of voting for the media award and third in the final round. Snyergetch team member Katherine Martinez, a graduating computer engineering technology senior continues to garner media attention. Her commentary is featured in the International Society of Automation (ISA) news.
