Students from the Information and Logistics Technology (ILT) department in the College of Technology joined ILT alum, John Millner at the Houston Electrical League booth during the 2014 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest on Saturday, March 1.

Working a six-hour shift with the “Kilowatt Kookers”, the students volunteered for Houston Electrical League’s largest annual fundraising event that contributes to scholarship funds. Dan Cassler, ILT program director, led this year’s student volunteers after a week of on-campus interviews with Houston Electric League representatives.

The Houston Electrical League is an industry association devoted to supporting the electrical industry within the Houston and Southeast Texas Area, as well as, steward and support education and scholarship through the Houston Electrical League Scholarship Fund (HELSF), a non-profit affiliate organization. HEL is a strong supporter of our youth. HEL regularly provides up to $60,000 per year in scholarships to junior and senior level college students.
