The College of Technology welcomed more than 100 students, faculty, alumni and industry partners to the spring 2013 Petroleum Industry Expert event — the fifth in the series, graciously underwritten by Halliburton. The industry roundtable and networking luncheon was held at the Hilton — University of Houston on April 16.
Since 2008, Halliburton has supported the college through highly valued events such as the lecture series, and through scholarships to students taking courses in the Petroleum Technology Initiative directed by Jack Christiansen.
"Halliburton's contributions to the College of Technology strongly reinforce our ability to provide the best in class engineering technology education for our students," said Dean William E. Fitzgibbon.
Networking session table hosts from companies including Matheson, Weatherford, Halliburton, MCS Kenny, AXON Tubular Products, Marathon Oil, and UH facilitated a broad range of discussions such as sustainability, supply chain management, downhole tool manufacturing, drilling tools, and career management.
Keynote speaker Chuck Richards, President of CA Richards & Associates, Inc., provided background and insight into the mechanics behind the Offshore Technology Conference. A member of the OTC board of directors, Chuck encouraged students to take advantage of the free registration and spend the day with the "who's who" of the flagship international offshore industry conference, May 6 - 9, 2013 at the Reliant Center. He highlighted the 45-year history of OTC, where about 90,000 attendees are expected this year.
