Marcus Gamino, a Mechanical Engineering Technology graduate student, has been awarded the ASME International Petroleum Technology Institute (IPTI) Graduate Scholarship. The ASME Petroleum Division offers two yearly annual graduate sponsorships of $10,000 each to the most qualified applicants. Marcus earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology in December 2011, and is currently in his second year of pursuing a M.S. in Engineering Technology (MET track) under the supervision of Professor Raresh Pascali. In his thesis, Marcus is developing a new methodology for analyzing Vortex Induced Vibration (VIV) of pipeline free spans through a combination Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) and Coupled Eulerian-Langrangian (CEL) simulations. Marcus presented at the 2013 CD-Adapco International Conference, March 18-19. His work will be featured in the 32nd International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering (OMAE 2013) and International Offshore and Polar Engineering (ISOPE) conferences.
