Tootsies Shoppers Support University of Houston Retailing Program

More than 100 supporters attended the first Shop for the Retail Stars Evening at Tootsies on Wednesday, October 24. University of Houston Alumnae Roz Pactor and Dominique Sachse hosted the evening along with the Retailing and Consumer Sciences Advisory Board. Recognized at the event were current Merchandising Star Awards scholarship recipients Khalid Al-Kalla and Kelsey Noble.

Attendees enjoyed the added treat of meeting Ranjana Khan, wife of designer Naeem Khan, who was at the store presenting her jewelry line. Past scholars were also on hand, including Tootsies assistant store manager Chris Goins. A portion of the shopping proceeds from the evening were donated to the retailing program in the college.

Guests enthusiastically applauded an announcement of the Retailing and Consumer Science program’s continuing expansion through the addition of a new graduate program in global retailing. Admissions for the program will start in spring 2013 with classes beginning in fall 2013.

The next Salute to Retail luncheon (formerly known as the Merchandising Star Awards) will be held October 16, 2013, led by Chairman Soraya McClelland and Honorary Chairman Dancie Ware.
