The University of Houston was selected as one of only 11 participants nationwide in the initial rollout of the Global Environment for Network Innovations (GENI), a prestigious National Science Foundation project that will profoundly influence the future of networking. Dr. Deniz Gurkan, Associate Professor of Engineering Technology, coordinated this effort with support from UH Associate VP of Information Technology/Chief Information Officer Dennis Fouty and Cullen Distinguished University Chair/TLC2 Director Lennart Johnsson. Dr. Johnsson's Research and Education Network of Houston (RENoH) contributed the infrastructure that distinguished UH from among myriad Tier One institutions in the highly competitive selection process. The university's participation will enable research innovations that shape the technical infrastructure of future internets and their impact on society as a whole.
