Burns Selected to Present at International Conference, Chair Local Fundraising Conference

College of Technology Development Director Lisa Chmiola Burns has been invited to present at the Association of Fundraising Professionals International Conference on Fundraising in Vancouver, British Columbia, in April.

The conference held each spring and regarded as the premiere educational forum for the industry, brings more than 4,000 fundraising professionals from around the globe together to discuss, teach and learn about new development issues.

Burns will co-present "Why You Need a Social Media Policy: How Social Media Impacts Your Fundraising." With two degrees in the communications field, Burns led the task force within the COT to develop and implement strategies for its LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook accounts in 2008. She was then tapped by the AFP Greater Houston Chapter to develop its social media accounts in 2011, and is currently assisting Leadership Houston with the rebranding of its social media.

Additionally, Burns is serving as chairman for Ask the Experts regional fundraising conference organized by the AFP Greater Houston Chapter. Scheduled for February 28, the conference is the largest of its kind in the South and attracts presenters from across the United States and Canada.
