Dr. Jamison Kovach, Associate Professor in the Department of Information and Logistics Technology, was recently notified that she has been awarded the 2010 American Society for Quality's Fiegenbaum Medal. This prestigious medal is given annually to a young quality professional who has displayed outstanding characteristics of leadership, professionalism, and potential in the field of quality through achievement of significant benefit to mankind. The award will be presented on May 15 at the ASQ annual meeting in Pittsburgh.
This is not the first award recognizing Dr. Kovach's professional skills. She was recently awarded the prestigious Faculty Excellence Award from the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) in recognition of "excellence in teaching, service to the profession and scholarship." The Faculty Excellence Award is the highest recognition given by the association and was presented to Dr. Kovach on October 29, 2010, during the ATMAE conference in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Dr. Kovach received her B.S. in Textile Engineering from North Carolina State University and received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University. Her industrial experience includes several years as a product and process improvement engineer in the U.S. textile industry, and she is certified in Six Sigma Black Belt training.
Dr. Kovach's research interests include: analyzing data rich environments, process improvements, system modeling, total quality management, product/process design and robust design. She teaches TELS 4342, Quality Improvement Methods and TEPM 6304, Quality Improvement in Project Management, among other courses.
