Summer Undergraduate Research in Sensor Networks and Security Infrastructure

The Engineering Technology Department of College of Technology and Mechanical Engineering Department of Cullen College of Engineering at the University of Houston are pleased to offer 10 weeks summer undergraduate research experience for qualified students sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Grant #0755516. There will be 8 projects related to sensor networks and security infrastructure sponsored by 11 dedicated faculties. Tentatively program starts on June 1 and ends on August 6, 2010.

Program Overview

  • Will recruit 12 promising undergraduate students to work in the most ethnically diverse research university in the nation
  • Will offer 8 coherent research projects
  • Will offer weekly workshops on research methods, research ethics, project management and related issues
  • Will offer field trips to high-tech companies and research institutions in the Houston area
  • Will offer $4,000 stipend, $1,250 housing, $15/day meals, and $300 for travel allowance

Selection and Eligibility

  • US Citizenship or permanent residence
  • Application form and supporting documents
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75/4.0
  • Women and minorities are highly encouraged to apply
  • Application deadline is March 10, 2010
