The UH AT&T Lab had the pleasure of the visit from the AT&T Senior VP of Construction and Engineering Ernest Carey. Dr. Fitzgibbon, Dean of the College of Technology (COT), Dr. Enrique Barbieri, Chair of the Engineering Technology (ET)Department, Dr. Heidar Malki, COT Dean of Research, Dr. Driss Benhaddou, Dr. Deniz Gurkan, and Dr. Mequanint Moges, COT ET faculty, Sergio Chacon, UH AT&T Lab Manager, Lisa Burns, COT Director of Development, Russ Gundrum, AT&T Senior Engineer, and Jim Segovia, AT&T Account Manager were among the guests.
Mr. Carey's visit consolidates the partnership between AT&T and the University of Houston and the College of Technology. It is important to note that the University of Houston is the first institution of higher education in the world to deploy U-Verse, a suite of Internet Protocol (IP)-based products and services , including AT&T U-verse TV, AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet, and AT&T U-verse Voice telephone, (VoIP) service. These services have been installed in the Moody Towers Residential Hall and will be offered in the Calhoun Lofts, now under construction.
In addition, The University of Houston AT&T Lab is the first university research lab to have U-Verse. The UH AT&T Lab and the AT&T Labs are expected to agree on future research collaborations and in the development and testing of applications related to U-Verse.
