The UH AT&T Lab in collaboration with the University of Houston Information Technology (UH-IT) and the Texas Learning and Computational Center (TLCC) has extended its fiber optic network as part of a plan to expand the lab's research and training capabilites and include it in local and international fiber optic networks such as the Research and Education Network of Houston (RENoH), the National Lambda Rail (NLR) and Internet2.
The connection brings the UH AT&T Lab's gigaEthernet network to international status. The possibility to collaborate directly with other regional and international research institutions is now possible and already there are a number of projects that we are going to get involved with such as Internet2's Dynamic Circuits Network (DCN) and the Global Environment for Network Innovations (GENI).
