Neil Eldin appointed Interim Dean of the College of Technology

Dr. Neil Eldin, Chair of the Construction Management Department has accepted the appointment to the position of Interim Dean of the College of Technology.

Provost Paula Myrick Short wrote in a November 30 announcement about the appointment: "I have asked Dr. Neil Eldin, Chair, Department of Construction Management, to assume the position of Interim Dean effective December 1. Dr. Eldin will have full responsibilities and decision-making authority of the dean. I thank Dr. Eldin for being willing to assume this important responsibility."

Prior to assuming this new role, Dr. Eldin served as professor and head of the construction management program from 2007 until 2012. He became chair of the newly formed construction management department in 2013. He now transitions into the position vacated by Dr. William Fitzgibbon, who has served as the College of Technology Dean from for the past 12 years and holds professorial rank in both the Department of Engineering Technology (Mechanical Engineering Technology) and the Department of Mathematics of the University of Houston.

Dr. Short stated in her email announcement that she "will initiate a national search for a new dean in fall 2016". "I appreciate very much all of Dr. Fitzgibbon's contributions to the University of Houston."

Dr. Eldin expressed appreciation for the all that Dean Fitzgibbon has accomplished during his leadership and stated in a November 30 email to the College of Technology faculty and staff: "Thank you all so much for your vote of confidence and for the opportunity to lead such a fine group. I am very honored and excited to serve you at this capacity and to support you on a path to great success."
