The Houston Oil and Gas Supply Chain Resiliency workshop brings together representatives from the private and public sectors, industry owners and operators, educational institutions, trade organizations, and others with supply chain resiliency and security interests. Organized by the University of Houston's Center for Logistics and Transportation Policy (CLTP) in the College of Technology, Texas Office of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the US Coast Guard, it is the second in a series of workshops across Texas addressing inland and off-shore oil and gas supply chain resilience and security, and the interdependencies of various sectors such as energy, transportation, manufacturing, information technology, and critical infrastructure.
The Honorable Judge Ed Emmett, and US Coast Guard Captain Brian Penoyer will be the keynote speakers, Wednesday, October 14, 2015, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 13411 Hillard St, 2nd Deck Training Rooms, Houston, TX 77034.

"The core purpose of this workshop is to strengthen our regional private-public partnerships and eventually establish a pool of interdependent, yet resilient partners among the oil and gas, transportation, state and federal entities," said Maria Burns, director of the CLTP at the University of Houston and lead for professional and workforce development at the DHS Center for Borders, Trade, and Immigration Research (CBTIR).
"While each corporate entity needs to retain its commercial activities private, we must acknowledge that our public and private partners all share similar security threats - we all work in a fast paced, highly competitive environment, with complex, multi-national supply chains. The goal of this series of workshops is to share our concerns, talk about common threats and systemic vulnerabilities. Once the communication channel between public and private partners is established, we will learn how to identify security threats, mitigate disasters and recover from current and future security challenges," Burns added.
Other workshops are being held in Corpus Christi, Permian Basin, and El Paso, from September to November 2015.
