Carlo Deason, veteran academic advisor for the College of Technology and UH alum, competed in Europe at the 2013 worldOutgames in Antwerp, Belgium, July 31 – August 11. He participated in the Track and Field 800 m and 1500 m competitions, garnering bronze medals in both events. “The competition was much more challenging than in the past. Antwerp was a great host city where I was able to reconnect with runners whom I have not seen in a couple of years,” said Deason. Even off the track Deason receives accolades. In 2009 he received the George Magner Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Academic advising along with a $1,000 and a plaque.
Between training and advising, Deason also serves as a mentor for members of the UH track and field team. He is looking forward to heading to Europe for future competitions.
