It is through work like this that the College of Technology will gain worldwide recognition. I am looking forward to staying involved as an active alumnus — Scott Batchelder, B.S. Computer Engineering Technology, 2013
Several College of Technology students along with advisor Dr. Mequanint Moges traveled to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida on Thursday, May 2 to participate in the weekend-long Cornell Cup competition. Cornell Cup, presented by Intel, is a national college-level embedded system design competition. One of the 30 selected from thousands of applicants, the team earned a Distinguished Recognition award for their presentation of a fire-analyzing robot, a device that can provide real-time transmitted information from inside a burning structure. The device would better prepare firefighters for unexpected dangerous situations. "The experience was phenomenal," said Scott Batchelder, team leader. "We learned more than imagined, including how to keep composure in intense, challenging situations and how critical it is to work as a team to handle them," he added.
