StepOut Campaign — 10,000 Strong

The Cougars for Kids 10,000 Strong drive in support of the American Diabetes Association's annual StepOut Campaign was a huge success! The StepOut Walk took place on November 20, 2010, at two locations—Minute Maid Park and The Woodlands. While the goal of 10,000 team members was not reached, the UH community (alumni, students, faculty and staff and friends) responded to the Cougars for Kids' appeal and raised $11,337 for the ADA.

Cougars for Kids is a university-wide volunteer organization that is sponsored and supported by the College of Technology. The organization's director, Dr. Jerry Evans, is a faculty member in the Department of Information and Logistics Technology at the College.

The level of enthusiasm for the ADA StepOut event compelled the Cougars for Kids members to declare that they wanted the drive for 10,000 UH participants to be an annual effort. Funds raised from the walk help the ADA to support research and raise awareness of diabetes.
