The Center for Technology Literacy of the College of Technology in partnership with the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center at the University of Houston was recently awarded a grant by the Economic Development Administration (EDA) of the Department of Commerce that seeks to work with the Greater Houston Area Technical Industry and K-16 Educational Community and provide an interdisciplinary cluster of technical assistance in the form of experiential educational workshops in a variety of fields. The vision is that increasing the communities' technical fluency translates into higher performance, better paying jobs, and economic growth. Thanks to the EDA grant, workshop costs to the participants are reduced to a minimum. Instructors are highly qualified practicing professionals and workshops are held in comfortable facilities at the University of Houston.
