Program Goals & Objectives

Program Goals

The following goals were identified as the means to achieve the CM department mission:

  • GOAL 1 - Strengthen collaboration with the industry
  • GOAL 2 - Offer curriculum aligned with industry needs
  • GOAL 3 - Increase innovation & research productivity
  • GOAL 4 - Support student success
  • GOAL 5 - Sustain growth with resources

Program Objectives, Assessments, and Metrics:

The following program objectives are grouped under the above goals:

GOAL 1 - Strengthen collaboration with the industry

The department’s vision of being “the industry’s university program” is the niche for the department. To elevate our collaboration with our industry partners to a new level, we must strive to bring more values to them and to create a welcoming environment for them to help.

  • Objective#1 Bring value to our industry partners by listening and responding to their needs.
  • Objective#2 Strengthen the engagement of the advisory board members in the CM program

GOAL 2 - Offer curriculum aligned with industry needs

Preparing industry-ready students can be achieved by developing a hands-on and technology-driven curriculum, and continuing education programs to meet industry needs.

  • Objective#3 Improve hands-on and technology-driven curriculum
  • Objective#4 Conduct continuous improvement to the program
  • Objective#5 Utilize experts in the fields to hold workshops in their respective areas

GOAL 3 - Increase external funding for applied research and innovation

Our goal is to expand our research areas to attract external funding from various sources, especially industry funding for applied research and innovation, which turns knowledge into profitable solutions.

  • Objective#6 Support industry-sponsored innovation and commercialization effort
  • Objective#7 Provide seed funding for early research
  • Objective#8 Promote multi-disciplinary collaboration

GOAL 4 - Support student success through academic teaching, internship, and scholarship

We believe that the ultimate measure of student success is employment. In addition to well-designed curriculum to prepare our graduates, another critical factor is real-world work experience, through which knowledge/skills that are largely absent from classroom learning can be acquired.

  • Objective#9 Support students in acquiring internship experience during their study
  • Objective#10 Support student success in engineering courses.
  • Objective#11 Support student in passing the AIC certification exam.
  • Objective#12 Support students in obtaining job placement before graduation.

GOAL 5 - Sustain our growth with resources: faculty, funding, facilities, and administrative support

To achieve all the above overarching goals, we must align, support, and increase our critical resources (faculty, funding, and facilities) and enhance our operation efficiency and quality (marketing, academic advising, and business operation).

  • Objective#13 Align, support, and increase our critical resources (faculty, funding, and facilities, and administrative support)
  • Objective#14 Enhance our operation efficiency and quality (marketing, academic advising, and business operation)
